When unmanaged water trapped beneath a slab freezes during cold winter spells, it generates immense upward pressure that breaks apart weak concrete. We counteract these subsurface forces by over-engineering our sub-grades, installing thick courses of crushed limestone aggregate, and performing multi-pass mechanical compaction to build an unyielding load-bearing base.
